We are candidates for CUSD200 School Board. We are committed to listening to all key constituents in our community to problem solve and manage change.
Few leaders are great leaders in all places and all times. Our current CUSD 200 leaders have guided our district to fiscal and academic excellence. And then crisis hit. It is unreasonable to expect any leader to have a playbook for the situation upon us. Still, a leader can boldly face a crisis with authority, or they can rely on the behaviors and plays that worked for them in the good times. Sometimes the old plays work and sometimes they do not. The prior CUSD200 playbook is not working. Waiting for the state or federal government to act is not working. Our community needs to act and make things work for all students. Acting is not relying on those who run the old plays. Nor is it time for polarizing ideology. It is time for broad and bold advocacy and action. It is time for a fresh thinking School Board who will listen, learn and lead.
We are the fresh thinking candidates for CUSD 200 School Board. The four of us have a wealth of practical experience tested in the course of challenging lives and careers. We differ on some issues which is good because CUSD 200 is a community full of diverse ideas, values, and goals. We challenge each other and we challenge others - but we align on a core set of principles that apply to all 20 schools in the CUSD 200 system. We strive to:
